Staff & Volunteers

Meet our staff! These wonderful people are just the start of embodying the Umi Mission and Vision for this community. They are excited to be here and to serve you in the coming weeks and months as we build the dream!

Umi is holding interviews ongoing as we grow in our first year of service. Please send in a form below if you are interested in learning more about what we do.

Audrey Whitlock is joining Umi as Office Co-Manager!

Audrey has a Bachelor’s degree in English and a Master’s degree from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary where she and Director Rachel Lee first met over a shared love of books, coffee, and Broadway. She has held multiple management positions and is skilled in a wide variety of internal operations and community development skills, due in no small part to her love for people and keen attention to detail.

Audrey’s sees all her work as service. While she works full time managing the Gordon-Conwell Seminary bookstore, she is looking forward to spending weekends helping Umi Wellness Center grow and reach out to the Charlotte community and fill this special, much needed space. Audrey loves reading, writing, movies, singing, and adores her amazing godchildren, niece and two wonderful dogs.

Catherine Ruffin – Community Relations Volunteer

Catherine is raising a new generation with her partner while working on her first novel and holds a degree in Psychology from Appalachian State University. She has also obtained training and certifications in various fields such as nursing, computer software, and family-centered community support.

With Umi she hopes to focus on patient advocacy and care coordination as it relates to people with chronic and complex illnesses in the absence of acute status. Cat’s years of trying to connect the dots has illuminated her own needs just as brightly as those of all the individuals in her community experiencing a lack within current systems.

Facilitating connection and innovation spurs her in this new direction with U/mi Wellness Center and she cannot wait to share that with you!

Nathan Paul Davis is joining Umi as a volunteer business consultant.

He holds a masters in business from the Jack Welch Institute at Strayer University and over a decade of experience in small business administration, finance, marketing and higher educational leadership. Most importantly, he is husband of Umi founder Rachel Lee Davis and a passionate volunteer in support of the mission and vision of the wellness center. The two entrepreneurs and teachers have navigated many years of working together, both in business and other endeavors like parenting their two wonderful children, and managing the complexities of multisystem chronic conditions passed down on both sides of the family. Finding answers was finding hope, and Nathan hopes to help other families find answers they also need, and have the support he personally knows is so invaluable to this community.

Sarah Halsell – We send Sarah into her passions with gratitude and hope for all the future holds. Thank you for serving Umi in our starting months and the ongoing support of all as one of our wonderful members.
